Abstract
Introduction: Representing knowledge through a conceptual model enables logical, standardized, and organized reasoning, potentially benefiting the flow of prenatal and postpartum care in Primary Health Care, contributing to more assertive clinical decision-making.
Objective: To present a conceptual model based on ontology about the Intelligent Care domain of Maternal Health in Primary Care, called OntoCISMAP.
Method: The development of the OntoCISMAP reference ontology utilized the Systematic Approach for Building Ontologies (SABiO) and the guidelines of the Unified Foundational Ontology (UFO), with strong support from experts in the fields of health sciences and computer science.
Results: The ontology artifacts generated so far are: a preliminary model, a graphical representation and glossary of terms from the formal reference model, and a complementary text, which support the understanding and application of the ontology elements, initially favoring communication between researchers and health professionals involved in the care of women during the pregnancy-postpartum period.
Conclusion: OntoCISMAP, as a reference ontology, is a conceptual artifact for mapping evidence for clinical decision protocols, from the eligibility of pregnant women to the postpartum period. It represents the first step towards creating an information and communication system that promotes care for pregnant and postpartum women in primary care, training and assisting researchers and health professionals in supporting decision-making during consultations.
