Abstract
Objective: analyse the occurrence of interpersonal violence against adolescents in the state of Ceará, identifying associations between types of violence and sociodemographic characteristics.
Method: ecological study using secondary data on interpersonal violence against adolescents, produced by Epidemiological Surveillance and recorded in the Information System on Diseases and Notification (SINAN), from 2009 to 2022, in the state of Ceará, Brazil. Descriptive analyses were performed to characterise the occurrence of violence. The association between this occurrence and the explanatory variables was assessed using simple linear regression.
Results: in the state of Ceará, the highest occurrence of violence was among female adolescents aged 15 to 19 years (59.04%). The home was the location with the highest occurrence (p<0.002). The aggressor was mostly the victim’s mother and father. The assaults occurred more than once.
